BalaSole Dance Company is proud to present this summer "OLIO." In this concert, Executive & Artistic Director Roberto Villanueva and 11 dance artists will present new solos inspired by various themes. These artists have performed works by renowned choreographers such as Doug Varone, Bill T. Jones, Robert Battle, Twyla Tharp, Martha Graham, William Forsythe, Jose Limón and Paul Taylor.

This multi-genre dance company has provided visibility to 90 underrepresented artists since its world premiere in August 2010. It is the only dance organization in the U.S. dedicated to bridging the gaps in the field of concert dance. Following successful productions at The Baryshnikov Arts Center's Jerome Robbins Theater, Dance Theater Workshop and Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the company has earned praises from critics for promoting diversity and showcasing talented dance artists of various sizes, shapes, ages, backgrounds, and artistic expressions. Past participants include members of the Limón Dance Company, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Lucinda Childs Dance, Parsons Dance, Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble, The Isadora Dance Company, Philadanco, Michael Mao Dance, and Tulsa Ballet.

Villanueva, rejected earlier in his dance career by dance companies for his small physique, founded BalaSole Dance Company to provide an arena for overlooked or marginalized dance artists. He has been hailed by The New York Times for his technical virtuosity and compelling personality.

This concert will feature Caitlyn Casson, Emily Craver, Kyla Healey, Monica Hogan, Devon Lodge, Carolina Rivera, Allyson Ross, Cesar Salinas, Millie Torchetti, Oshini Wanigasekera, Leslie Williams, Roberto Villanueva and emerging artist Melanie Kimmel.

BalaSole Dance Company is the resident dance company of the College of Mount Saint Vincent. For more information on BalaSole Dance Company, visit www.balasoledance.org.

Saturday tickets include post concert reception.
