OIL ON CANVAS is the story of two working class siblings, Claribel and Carlos, from San Antonio, Texas. Claribel is a promising young painter with a natural talent who dreams of attending a prestigious art school in New York, but gender inequality issues in her family and her community work to suppress her talents and her ambitions. Carlos on the other hand, does not have any goals of own, but being the male sibling, he is pressured to succeed and to prove his worth as a man, causing him to join the military. But when he returns from service with post-traumatic stress-disorder, the family is thrown into despair, until Claribel discover that through her paintings she can, quite literally, transform the reality of their surroundings, and steer them all toward a path of healing and empowerment.
