InsightALT is a series of workshop readings of new operas in development at American Lyric Theater, presented in tandem with conversations with the creative artists behind these new works.

THE LONG WALK, a new opera by composer Jeremy Howard Beck and librettist Stephanie Fleischmann, is based on Brian Castner’s critically acclaimed book of the same name, which describes a soldier’s return from Iraq where he served as an officer in an Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit and his battle with what he calls “the Crazy,” as he tries to reintegrate himself back into his family life.

Our June 11th InsightALT event will feature a concert reading of the complete opera, featuring baritone Daniel Belcher as Brian and mezzo soprano Heather Johnson as his wife Jessie. The cast also includes Caroline Worra, Donita Volkwijn, David Blalock, Javier Abreu, and Justin Hopkins. Steve Osgood conducts, with pianist Djordje Nesic and guitarist Taylor Levine.

General Admission Tickets are $20, and include a post concert discussion with the writers.

VIP Tickets are available for $120. VIP seating will be reserved in the first two rows, center. Seating will be assigned based on the date we receive your ticket order. Patrons purchasing VIP tickets will receive a receipt for a tax purposes for the donation portion of their transaction ($100).
