Additional Notes:
Great Kills, written in a style reminiscent of such plays as David Mamet's American Buffalo, and Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night, is a darkly comic, emotionally gripping tale of a get-rich-quick scheme that goes awry. With the changing landscape of mental health, Meadowbrook, the institution where Mr. G has worked in maintenance for over thirty years, is shutting down. When Mr. G mentions to his son, Tim, who's living home after having lost his position as an adjunct professor of literature, how the institution's furniture -- the kind of stuff you find in a doctor's office -- is lying abandoned in a field, he dreams of making a fortune from selling the salvage. To finance the plan, he involves his estranged childhood friend, restaurateur, Robert. Over the course of a drunken evening of scheming, the plan becomes less real, as the men's desperate realities become more apparent, and a devastating family secret is revealed.

Hunter Gatherers

Pam and Richard are hosting their best friends, Wendy and Tom, for an annual dinner get-together. An animal sacrifice kicks off the evening, followed by a little more sex, violence, deception, wrestling, and dancing than at previous parties. A darkly comic evening where the line between civilized and primal man is blurred, and where not everyone will survive long enough to enjoy the brownies for dessert.

Kristina
Friday, March 13, 2015 through Sunday, March 29, 2015

Before Hollywood's "Queen Christina" there was August Strindberg's "Kristina." See the role that made Garbo notorious!

Venue: ( The Gene Frankel Theater)

Producer: ( August Strindberg Repertory Theatre, Inc)
August Strindberg Repertory Theatre, Inc
City: New York

Additional Notes:
KRISTINA is the true story of the scandals leading up to the abdication of Sweden's only queen. Her naturalistic portrayal in this play made Strindberg's name as a revisionist historian and led to vicious attacks on him for the unforgivable sin of telling the truth. We see Kristina struggling against old lovers and former mentors, hiding her impending conversion to Roman Catholicism, putting on ballets to distract from her financial and sexual misconduct, fighting her feminine nature and finally succumbing to it. Kristina wore pants, which were first adopted by women 300 years later; she struggled with a world not ready to accept a strong-willed woman in a position of authority...supreme authority in her case. Design evokes Garbo and the Roaring Twenties as a parallel to the 1600s. A new translation by Wendy Weckwerth premieres here. Director is Whitney Aronson. Stars Ivette Dumeng as Kristina with Sergio Castillo, Martin Boersma, Brent Shultz, Amy Fulgham,* Jacob Troy, Al Foote III , Steve Shoup,* Eric C. Bailey,* Michael Cirelli and Christine Nyland; stage manager, Hanna Delmore. Designs by Miriam Crowe, lighting; Jessa-Raye Court, costumes; Mikhail Poloskin, projections and graphics; and Andy Evan Cohen, sound; produced by Robert Greer, artistic director of the August Strindberg Repertory Theatre. * denotes a member of Actors' Equity.
