Comedy Central and National Lampoon star Tommy Koenig brings us through the history of Rock and Roll in his one-man Musicomedy with songs and the music of The Beatles, James Brown, Santana, Tina Turner, Madonna, Lady Gaga, The Who, Neil young, Billy Joel, The Ramones, The Eagles and more! What makes ‘Baby Boom Baby unique as a one-man show is that it is not only pure entertainment and fun, but its also a love story, and the story of a generation told in this cleverly written, creatively staged and remarkably performed solo piece. What makes Tommy Koenig unique as an impressionist/parodist is his ability to not only embody the spirit of the character in body, face, voice and tone…but to use the artists own songs in self-mockery, lampooning with exacting aim, and in the case of ‘Baby Boom Baby, placed in their proper historical context. With original songs too.Tommy Koenig has always combined the worlds of stand-up comedy, theater and rock and roll music in his one-man shows over the years. And now he's done it again with BABY BOOM BABY. People have said: What an amazing talent. He's like a combination of Jerry Lewis and George Carlin. The New York Times called him A Master of Caricature, and The L.A. Weekly called him Hilarious.Humor, Music, Romance, History, Message – this show has it all! A perfect mix of Comedy, Music and Theater.

Exile is my Home

Theater for the New City proudly presents the world premiere of Domnica Radulescu's EXILE IS MY HOME, A Sci-fi Immigrant Fairy tale. Exile is My Home is the haunting story of Mina and Lina, a refugee couple from the Balkans traveling through the galaxy in search of a planet to call home. Told as a sci-fi, post-apocalyptic fairy tale — and brilliantly combining absurdist comedy, irony, and suspense — the play touches on extremely relevant issues currently affecting our world.

Additional Notes:
As millions of people in our world today are being displaced from their homes and swept across tumultuous seas and often unwelcoming lands in their desperate need and desire for the safety and basic comforts of a home, immigrant theater has a crucial role in raising consciousness about these wrenching realities of our world. Domnica Radulescus play Exile Is My Home deals precisely with such realities from the perspective of female displaced travelers crossing a confusing and terrifying universe in a desperate search for safety, peace, a place they can call home. The plays poetic and tragic comic actions and language, the courage, intelligence and sass of the two protagonists and the multicolored array of good and evil characters they encounter along the way create an artistic landscape that is as moving as it is entertaining, as politically engaged it is shocking, as troubling as it is comforting in its utopian ending. Midnight Kill

The play is a drama set among the teachers of a small elementary school in a rural farming village in northern China during the early 1970s, when China's Great Proletariat Cultural Revolution was at its height. Under the country's autocratic rule, extreme forms of collectivism, asceticism, and class warfare ran rampant in every corner of the country. In this crucible of passion, ideology and deprivation, a married woman has been having an affair with a young teacher. The play opens with the scene where the teacher has already killed the woman. The rest of the play traces their relationship as a flash back, eventually revealing the motivations behind the killing. For more information, please visit:http://www.yangtze-rep-theatre.org/

Wong, a school campus in a Chinese rural village during the 1970's becomes a theater of twisted, oppressed but indelible human desires. Daily mundane activities become an absurd performance of ordinary people's basic emotions. The play is based around an actual murder story that occurred in a mountain hamlet in Anhui province (China), where the author lived for five years. Photo by Jonathan Slaff.

Directed by Ron MulliganTheatre On The Edge presents socially provocative work in a black box setting. This show is meant to be “outside the box” and provide a venue for performers to do more controversial work not normally performed in local theatre.Geoffrey Nauffts' NEXT FALL takes a witty and provocative look at faith, commitment and unconditional love. While the play's central story focuses on the five-year relationship between Adam and Luke, NEXT FALL goes beyond a typical love story. This timely and compelling new American play forces us all to examine what it means to believe and what it might cost us not to.

Hunter is haunted by the past – the ghost of a failed relationship leaves him unable to find love even in his fantasies. An impromptu dinner with his extravagant drag queen roommate, a former gay stripper turned Conservative evangelist and an annoying acquaintance with a lazy eye, all of whom have excess baggage of their own, makes for an awkward evening. Only when a sexy stranger from Pocatello, Idaho with an uncomplicated outlook on life and a big-hearted spirit named Afrodite enter his life does he have the courage to face his demons. One Love explores the power of perspective and its influence on the complexities of love.PETER ZACHARI (Director/Playwright) has written and directed Under the Knife: A Farce, Fat Asses: The Musical as well as the return of Parker & Dizzys Fabulous Journey to the End of the Rainbow at Theater for the New City.
