In its day, the worst industrial disaster in New York history spurred labor organizers and others to enact progressive legislation. A hundred years later, the Triangle fire tragedy is inspiring a new generation of activists to organize against global sweatshops. Learn about how Lower East Side Jewish and Italian immigrants lived and worked together in 1911. Hear about the annual commemoration that honors the loss and empowers the living through the memorial act of sidewalk “CHALK.” Reception to follow.
