Drew Pisarra Presents
Now Repeat in Steinese
Tuesday, June 01, 2010 through Tuesday, June 29, 2010
Fruity? Dry? Acidic? Sweet? This evening of Gertrude Stein has you covered in terms of theatricks and wine drinking.
Length: 1 hr 03 mins Intermission: None Seating: General Admission You choose your seats when you get to the theater.
Drawing upon Gertrude Stein’s reputation for repetition, "Now Repeat in Steinese" is actually a cabaret of sorts: Four productions of her early enigmatic one-act “White Wines” paired with four different white wines. Fruity? Dry? Acidic? Sweet? "Now Repeat in Steinese" has you covered both as a play and as a beverage. Participating artistes are Ryan Bronz (a founding member of the National Theater of the United States of America), Kurt Braunohler (who has taken his comedic acts to SXSW and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Heidi Carlsen (a Fulbright scholar who brought her movement-theater experiments to Poland), Andrew Frank (librettist for the off-Broadway musical "Sidd" and cofounder of Manhattan Theater Source), Mark Grenier (the Training Center Director at Magnet Theater and Artistic Director of Shoot from the Hip), Drew Pisarra (a Steinese veteran who has staged her one-acts "Curtain Raiser," "Ladies Voices," and "Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters"), and Laura Sheedy (directorial advisor to such international acts as Circus Oz, La La Parlour and Suitcase Royale). Among the performers onstage are Susan Slatin, Dorit Avganim, Lucas Hazlett, Amy Dickenson, and Rita Marchelya.
