A mystical and sensual musical. The TARANTELLA healing trance dance - the myth of the tarantula and the birth of Spider Woman, celebrating the wild ecstatic rites of Dyonisus. Featuring aerial, fire, stilt dancers, masked character, acrobats and the techno tarantella trance dance beat.

"New York has been bitten by the spider again, this time not by Spider Man, but by Spider Woman, or the tarantula, flying in the air the spell bounding production of "Tarantella: Spider Dance," presented at Theater for the New City (in New York) by Alessandra Belloni and her company, I Giullari Di Piazza."

Wild and erotic sensual dancers enact the ancient ecstatic rites of Dionysus in "Tarantella: Spider Dance." A company of 16 performers musicians, actors, acrobats and dancers fills the stage with a trance dance celebration of culture unique to the Southern Italian experience. The piece is written and directed by Alessandra Belloni. Music is arranged by violinist/composer Joe Deninzon, Alessandra Belloni.
