Sacred Hearts: Two Plays About Women And The Love That Lays Them Low
Wednesday, February 07, 2007 through Saturday, February 17, 2007
SACRED HEARTS: two plays about two women from two different generations trying to salvage their lives as love hurtles them inexorably forward into a future full of doubt.
Length: 2 hrs 00 mins Intermission: Yes Seating: General Admission You choose your seats when you get to the theater.
WEEK ONE: FEB. 7-10 - THE LOVE SONG OF ELEANOR PURDY.
WEEK TWO: FEB. 14-17 - THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE
In Germaine Netzband’s The Love Song of Eleanor Purdy, opening February 7, two old friends reunite during an evening of pizza, beer and Harrison Ford. The night turns into a gathering of love, jealously and truth as the friends come to see their loves - both lasting and fleeting, the compromises they have made and come to hate, and the chances they took and missed.
Susannah Nolan’s The Truth About Love, opening appropriately on Valentine’s Day February 14, is set in 1958 Philadelphia. On the idyllic Penn campus one hot summer, Rachel sees Mark and Mark sees Rachel and they fall in love. But for Rachel, “the truth” about love is that it makes her see only a beautiful light at the end of a tunnel, not the locomotive speeding towards her. It’s Our Town, if Emily was bewitched, bothered and bewildered – and George was gay.
See both shows for only $25 when you call 212-868-4444. |
