New Chamber Ballet opens its 2013/14 season with a program of five ballets by Miro Magloire with live music on violin and piano:

A new work in which the dancers accompany themselves with percussive instruments;

Klavierstück, the company's signature piece, to music by Karlheinz Stockhausen. Klavierstück "creates strange, potent images of the relationship among the dancers, the pianist and the piano... The best piece [Magloire] has choreographed since I've been watching the company." (Roslyn Sulcas, The New York Times)

Anna's Last Day, a dramatic duet to Rebecca Saunders' Duo for violin and piano, which "allows the audience to eavesdrop onto the inner anguish and turmoil of a woman who is tormented with secret longings and obsessions." (Annie West, Broadwayworld.com)

In a Simple Black Dress, which inventively mixes on- and off-pointe dancing in a solo inspired by Pierre Boulez' virtuoso violin study Anthèmes;

The Letter, an upstairs-downstairs comedy to a score by Joseph Haydn.

Performers include Sarah Atkins, Elizabeth Brown, Holly Curran, Traci Finch, and Amber Neff. The music will be played live by Doori Na (violin) and Melody Fader (piano).

"It's heartening to see work so focused on the meeting of dance and music." -Alastair Macaulay, The New York Times
