In "Hughie," small time hustler Erie Smith confronts the run of bad luck he hasn't been able to shake since the death of Hughie, night clerk at the hotel he frequents in New York City.

"Trifles" takes us to rural America where two women, their husbands, and the county attorney investigate the death--and perhaps murder--of a farmer.
