DynamiQ Faction, a Queens based hip-hop dance team, was formed in April 2008 with the mission to use the art of dance to provide a truly positive environment for people of all ages and backgrounds. Part of that mission is to establish an annual showcase that will continue to grow with each coming year and eventually reach hundreds of people.
Now, a year later and a half later, DynamiQ is expanding that vision with the intention to use the showcase to promote awareness and raise funds for a cause that directly impacts members on the team, breast cancer. Partnering with various sponsors, survivors of breast cancer and other dance teams in the community, DynamiQ Faction brings to you Dance for Life! Proceeds from this event will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (www.nationalbreastcancer.org).
Thanks to the huge success of nationally televised competitions (So You Think You Can Dance?, MTV's America's Best Dance Crew) and dance movies (You Got Served, Step Up), the popularity for dancing to win fame and fortune is on the rise. This new movement of putting dancers to the forefront has millions of young people scrambling like mad to the next big audition with high hopes to make it big. In the face of this change, aspiring performers may be forgetting what it means to put God given talent to good use and promote awareness for something bigger than themselves. Dance for Life is all about using your talents for a good cause. See you there! |
