7 Stories

"My! Doesn't the sidewalk look inviting from here!"
Length: 1 hr 30 mins Intermission: None Seating: General Admission You choose your seats when you get to the theater.
7 Stories is an absurdist ensemble piece about a man perched on the ledge of a building whose suicide attempts are continuously interrupted by the mad-cap zoo of the building's residents. The story is at once hilariously farcical and haltingly human, reminding us how impossible it is to understand each other...and how noble it is that we try.
Morris Panych, a Canadian playwright, actor and director, has written over a dozen plays that have been produced all over North America and Europe. The Canadian Theatre Encyclopedia says of Panych's plays that they are "black comedies that oscillate between hope and despair." The Enyclopedia goes on to say that:
"The plays of Morris Panych are characterized by existential themes and "theatre of the absurd" style and sensibility. They typically set their interrogations of the meaning of life in culturally and nationally neutral locales, and they pose broad philosophical questions on human interaction and isolation, on the nature of good and evil, and on the relationship between fantasy and reality."
Panych has won the Canadian Jessie Award fourteen times for acting and directing, has been nominated six times for Toronto’s Dora Mavor Moore Awards, winning twice. In 1994 he was awarded the Governor General’s Award for Drama.
This summer's company will include Connor Paolo (Gossip Girl, Mystic River, World Trade Center, Alexander, Snow Angels), Alice Kremelberg (30 Rock, Baby Mama, Law & Order, Guiding Light), Thomas James Lombardo (Law & Order), Rachel Troy, Thomas Patel, Toni-Ann Gardiner & Erica Terpening-Romeo. The show is directed by Greg T. Parente. |
