First published in 1892 (and set in 15th-century Champagne), Paul Claudel's THE TIDINGS BROUGHT TO MARY is a modern mystery play. It follows the tale of two sisters, one dedicated to the spirit, and the other to the flesh.

The New York Times wrote of TIDINGS "Claudel's work is in a class by itself. It is safe to say that New Yorkers never saw anything quite like this play in the whole of the theatrical history of their city."

The Storm Theatre, in association with The Blackfriars Repertory Theatre, is proud to return Claudel's masterpiece to the New York stage as part of its mission to present seldom-seen classics.
