Shen Wei Dance Arts presents
Connect Transfer II: Museum and Gallery Edition
Wednesday, December 03, 2008 through Sunday, December 07, 2008
This "modern masterpiece" inspired his contribution to the Olympic Opening Ceremonies....and now it comes home to New York.
Length: 1 hr 15 mins Intermission: None Seating: General Admission You choose your seats when you get to the theater.
On 8.8.08, the world watched as modern dance took center stage at the Olympic Opening Ceremonies with movement inspired by Shen Wei's landmark work, Connect Transfer. This December, Shen Wei returns home to lead his company in the New York Premiere of Connect Transfer II—reimagined for a tour of modern art museums—at Judson Memorial Church, historic epicenter of postmodern dance.
Virtuosic, explosive, utterly unpredictable…Dancers emerge onto a stark white canvas, immersed in liquid color, 'whirling between heaven and earth at every possible angle' (Los Angeles Times). Forty-five minutes later: a manifesto in paint revealed. Immediately following each performance, Shen Wei scores that canvas for auction. Gather near, bid, and take home a piece of living art. Join us for this unique event!
With live music performed by New York favorites Flux Quartet and Stephen Gosling, piano
