RIPFEST is a guerrilla filmmaking process where seven teams of professionals who have never met are given sixteen days to create original ten-minute films from scratch. RIPFEST is unique in having a regular program designed to create short Movie Musicals. For RIPFEST #8, four films will be made in NY the others in LA. All will be shown at each screening as well as a behind-the-scenes documentary.
RIPFEST has attracted top talent looking for a creative challenge that the commercial world cannot provide. This year the participants include artists with careers in television, film and Broadway, including: Writers: Rachel Axler (The Daily Show), Bob Kushell (The Simpsons), Stuart Ross (Forever Plaid); Composers: Jonathan Grossman (Joan of Arcadia), Mark Savage (Naked Boys Singing); Directors: John Henry Davis (HBO’s “Oz”), Paul Lazarus (Everybody Loves Raymond), Len Jenkin (Emmy nom., 3 Obies), Kirsten Sanderson (Public Theatre: First Lady Suite); Editor: Mark Senter (Peabody Award); Actors: Jeff Blumenkrantz (B’wy: A Class Act), Darius DeHaas (RENT), Ellen Folley (female vocal on Meatloaf’s “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights”), Aimee Miles (Spiderman 3), Benjamin Schrader (Bwy: Tom Sawyer, Big River), Michael Winther (Bw’y: Mama Mia).
