a fantastical modern romance

You choose your seats when you get to the theater.

A fantastical modern love story, performed in nine scenes, with a prologue, an epilogue, and one strange interlude. Danny, a reclusive Brooklyn playwright, awakens one morning from a strange dream. A mysterious shadow dancer has just paid him a visitation, beckoning him into a brave new world. Is Danny's dream an ecstatic vision? Is it a portent of things to come? Or is it merely the result of too many beers from the night before?

Undaunted, Danny makes the mystical journey from his Park Slope home to the isle of Manhattan. There he encounters a reality very different to any he has ever known. In the course of one very long evening, he meets a grandiose homeless person, a sexy bookseller, a sinister tattoo artist, and, finally, Linnea, a stripper who dances at a waterfront bar called Fallen Angels. In Linnea, Danny believes he has found the woman of his dreams.

The inexperienced writer soon finds himself launched into the middle of a love triangle involving Linnea and a brutal sensualist named Cody. Danny's dream quickly turns into a nightmare, as his obsession deepens, and life and art seem to meld together.

Can Danny save Linnea from Cody, and herself, and still get his play written? And what of Maggie, the bookseller? Could she hold the key to his happiness?

Linnea, a new play by Storm founding member John Regis (Stavrogin's Confession), charts, in a hilarious and at times heartbreaking fashion, the effects of obsessional love and the artist's way. Storm is very excited and proud to be staging this world premiere.
