Mackwell Productions presents Duet, an evening of one-acts showcasing the work of directors Maggie Burkle and Portia Krieger.
Portia Krieger directs Sunrise, by Tommy Smith. This biting comedy follows the reclusive Blattys, whose lonely lives are interrupted when a mysterious stranger visits the couple's home, threatening to uncover a dark secret from their dirty past. Blending genres, Sunrise is a swiftly paced, quick witted, insightful look at the breakdown of relationships and religion in the modern world.
Sunrise ***1/2 Tommy Smith's tale is just the kind of play I like: full of well-spoken, rhythmic banter which reveals, little by little, the dark and mysterious past of husband and wife shut-ins. -- Bruno Lajeunesse, Montreal Gazette
Sunrise stars Ben Beckley, Teddy Bergman, and Jocelyn Kuritsky
