This monthly production tangles a mess of classic television game shows up with a bit of burlesque and a lot of beer drinking. Hosted by New York City-based burlesque performer and producer, Anita Cookie, this show is chock full of fun drinking games and tasty trivia. Contestants are randomly selected so each audience member has a chance to play and win! Prizes include: burlesque baked goods, decorative drinking glasses, pretty pasties, free beer, a horse-drawn carriage ride in Central Park, or even tickets to another show! Products provided by Saucy Sweets, handmade by Ms. Cookie herself. Anita is accompanied by her live band “The Kindergarteners”, Ari and Zach. They’re two cute Jews who REALLY know how to play their instruments. Who could ask for anything more! Also, the dazzling drunk will be joined every month by and a different Drinking Buddy, a recognizable New York performer/artist/personality, who will perform a secret special talent. You’ll have to come each month to see who it could be and what they can do!
Anita’s Underground is the second Thursday of every month, at 10:30 PM at Under St. Marks in the East Village. Admission is $15.
Anita Cookie is dedicated to bringing quality burlesque to the masses, and she hopes to do this by always finding new and exciting ways to showcase jokes as well as jiggling bosoms. Along with Anita’s Underground, she co-produces a LIVE late night talk show in Williamsburg called The Night Cap, and she is the drunk in The Drunk ‘n’ Dirty Duo who can be seen monthly at the Palace of Wonders in Washington, DC. When Anita’s not shaking her hips, she’s whipping up her Saucy Sweets! She makes cookies, hot sauce, decorative items and much, much more! |
