DMAC-Duo Multicultural Arts Center will present the premiere of Sidra Bell’s Beautiful Beast The Other Face May 12-15, 2010 at 8 PM.

Sidra Bell's anthemic full length looks at aspects of beauty both extravagant and violent as well as the brutality of images. This fantastical work takes viewers through a dreamscape of personas that are simultaneously glamorous, destroyed, endangered, grotesque, and heroic. The landscape is both a house of mirrors and a house of horrors. The work magnifies overblown, distorted caricatures of the self that obscure and conceal the truth in ones own reflection.

The vast includes Jenelle Figgins, Alexandra Johnson, Caroline Kirkpatrick, Rebecca Margolick , Anila Mazhari, Troy Ogilvie, Amber Lee Parker, Maud de la Purification, Leslie Hubilla, Amber Morgan, Moo Kim and Gilbert Small.

Dance@DMAC is curated by Lisa Rinehart and Michelangelo Alasa'. In it’s first season of full length commissions, DMAC has commissioned three choreographers, Sidra Bell, (May 12-15) Lauri Stallings/gloATL (June 10-12, 2010) Keely Garfield (October 28, 29,30 2010) to create site-specific works for DMAC's unique theater space. The choreographers were each paid a commission fee and a full residency at DMAC to create the new work.
