DIRECTED BY HAL BROOKS

"A marvelous performance. Touching and funny."
-The New York Times

"Exuberant! Nilaja Sun tells us something vital about our world. No Child... goes where theater rarely dares to tread."
-New York Magazine

No Child... is a tour-de-force exploration of the New York City public school system by the acclaimed actress and teaching-artist Nilaja Sun. Critics are raving as Sun fearlessly transforms with rapid-fire precision into the teachers, students, parents, administrators, janitors, and security guards who inhabit our schools and shape the future of America. An insightful, hilarious, and touching master class not to be missed by anyone who is concerned about the state of our education system and how we might fix it.

Nilaja Sun was named soloNOVA Artist of the Year 2010 by the terraNOVA Collective!

For her creation and performance of No Child..., Nilaja garnered a Lucille Lortel Award, two Outer Critics Circle Awards including the John Gassner Playwrighting Award, a Theatre World Award, an Obie Award, a Black Theater Alliance Award, the Joseph Jefferson Award for Solo Performance, two Drama League Honors, a Garland Award, and was named the Best One- Person Show at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival.

Over the 2007-2008 season, Nilaja toured No Child…to major regional theatres including the Lookingglass Theatre, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, American Repertory Theatre, Center Theatre Group, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre; these national engagements earned her a Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award, Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, a San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award, the IRNE Award for Best Solo Performer, and the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Solo Performance.

Most recently No Child... appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Dublin Theatre Festival in 2010.
