Deborah Kaufmann Presents
Buried Alive! A Matchbox Theatre
Thursday, October 04, 2012 through Friday, October 26, 2012
Intriguing, hysterical, minute and very macabre.
Length: 1 hr 00 mins Intermission: None Seating: General Admission You choose your seats when you get to the theater.
BURIED ALIVE! a matchbox theatre, is a frightfully funny exploration of our fear of being buried alive, and the curious phenomenon of 19th Century “waiting mortuaries.” Tiny and interactive, it is full of dreadful discoveries for an ADULT audience of 25-30 members. Constructed in and of matchboxes, it takes advantage of the unique qualities of these tiny stages. Images and characters slide out, slide through, pop up, and drop out of matchboxes. Based on historical and medical facts, BURIED ALIVE is creatively anachronistic and plays with scale.
Get yourself in the right mood for Halloween!
“...the way each box reveals its tiny inhabitants is entrancing...” ---The Village Voice
“...depicted with comic deadpan perversity...a wink and raised eyebrow of an entertainment.” -- womanaroundtown.com
