Michael Urie is MASTERFUL!" -New York Magazine "Fantastically funny!" - New York Post "A fantasy so delightful you wish it were true." -The New Yorker "An irresistible play from the most peculiar of fictitious premises — an underemployed Los Angeles actor goes to work in Barbra Streisand’s Malibu basement — allowing the playwright to ruminate with delicious wit and perspicacity on the solitude of celebrity, and the melancholy that lurks beneath narcissism. In the capable hands of the director Stephen Brackett and the wickedly charming actor Michael Urie, this seriously funny slice of absurdist whimsy creates the illusion of a stage filled with multiple people, all of them with their own droll point of view." -The New York Times "Spectacular. Beyond Brilliant. This show will go down like butta'!" -Entertainment Weekly "Fantastically Funny. Its a Funny-Girl Babs inspired Comedy." -NY Post World premiere produced by Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. www.BUYERandCELLAR.com Buyer and Cellar

Venue: ( The Drilling Company Theater)
The Drilling Company Theater
Producer: ( River District Theatre Co)
River District Theatre Co
City: New York

Additional Notes:
Gary L. Anderson, the lauded national portrayer of Clarence Darrow, offers a fresh, raw portrait of the "Lion of the Courtroom," who defended John Scopes (Scopes Monkey Trial) and the teenage child-killers, Leopold and Loeb. Passionate against the death penalty, Darrow saved 102 men, women and children from execution. Forever loyal to his motto "Lost causes are the only ones worth fighting for." Now, he stubbornly faces his two greatest opponents: disease and death. Based on new and intimate details of his private life, Naked Darrow is an inspiring portrayal of the man, not the legand, in his final days. At 79, ill and struggling, with his mind slipping away, Darrow confronts his life - past and present, personal demons, famous and infamous cases, and the influential women he loved. For Darrow...the truth is no longer clear. _________ "Gary Anderson's Clarence Darrow is in the same league as Holbrook's Twain." ... Eureka Times, CA "Gary Anderson's one-man portrayal of Clarence Darrow reminds us why spectators lined up at dawn, why judges wept, why reporters howled, and why the name of Clarence Darrow still evokes in us the challenge that we can, that we must continue to fight oppression. I strongly recommend you give yourself this gift and see Gary Anderson." ... Phyllis Vine, author of "One Man's Castle: Clarence Darrow in Defense of the American Dream" "Holds the audience spellbound. Don't miss this engaging and thought provoking performance!" ... San Leandro Times, CA

City: New York

Additional Notes:
Naked Girls Reading NYC is the perfect intimate live event: a monthly nude literary salon featuring in-the-buff readings by local burlesque luminaries, professional librarians, authors and other Naked Girls. Past themes have included Banned Books, Science Fiction, and Tween Lit, as well as their annual holiday presentation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Guests to the salon are invited to sip a drink and listen with their eyes wide open as full-frontal literature meets fine art in this intimate theatrical setting.

Naked Girls Reading began in Chicago in March 2009 as the creation of international showgirl Michelle L’Amour and Franky Vivid. The idea had rolled around in their heads for a few years in different formats, but with the opening of Studio L’Amour in 2008 it materialized as the perfect intimate live event. Naked Girls Reading now has branches across the country and around the world; the New York chapter, produced by Nasty Canasta, was opened in October 2009 to great acclaim ("Great literature stripped bare" -Entertainment Weekly; "It was a remarkable experience." -Tor.com) and was named "New York's Best Story Hour" by the Village Voice in 2010. www.NakedGirlsReadingNYC.com

"Naked Girls Reading has clearly evolved into something more than just titillation. It is titillating, but after the first thrill of the initial disrobing, the pleasure of seeing beautiful women undressed fades besides the sense of intimacy achieved from someone bearing both their body and their soul at the same time." -Tor.com
