The August Strindberg Rep transports "Miss Julie" to an antebellum Louisiana plantation. The landowner's daughter Julie has just broken off her engagement. It's Mardi Gras; she and the master's black butler John dance and drink at her insistence. Hearing the roughneck field hands coming, they hide in his room while these rowdies vandalize the house in a never-before performed ballet sequence devised by Strindberg! Julie and John have had sex and plan to flee for New Orleans, take a steamer and open a hotel in Jamaica. She steals her father's cash box to pay for the trip, but their plan is thwarted when John's fiancee Christine the cook announces that she will tell the stable boy on her way to church not to let any horses out until the Master is back! ------------------------------------------------------ Starring Ivette Dumeng as Julie and Audelco Award winners Reginald L. A terrible storm floods a small Island that is divided by class. A peasant girl is swept away and Agwe, the God of Water, saves her and sets her in a tree. She is discovered by Mama Euralie and Ton Ton Julian who decide to adopt her. Naming her Ti Moune or “Little Orphan”, they tell her that she was saved by the Gods for something special. Ti Moune sees young Daniel, a rich Grand Homme, as he drives by in a white car and prays to the Gods for a better life. The Gods ponder her prayer and create a storm in which Daniel crashes his car. Ti Moune rescues him but Pape Ge, the Demon of Death, comes to take Daniel’s life. Ti Moune, however, exchanges her life for his. The Beauxhomme’s come to take Daniel home but Ti Moune’s goes after him and begs to be taken in to their Hotel. Ti Moune falls in love with Daniel as she helps back to health and the gossip surrounding them grows. A Ball is thrown and it is announced that Daniel and Andrea are to be wed. Ti Moune is heartbroken. Pape Ge then returns to remind Ti Moune of her bargain and offers to give her back her life for Daniel’s. She nearly gives in but cannot and is cast out of the Hotel. As Daniel chooses Andrea, Ti Moune’s life ends. The Gods transform her into a tree that cracks the wall of the hotel so that its gates can never be closed again.
