Stop The Tempo
Sunday, May 26, 2013 through Tuesday, June 18, 2013
Origin Theatre Company, Artistic Director George C. Heslin presents the US premiere of “Stop the Tempo” by Romanian playwright Gianina Carbinariu, in a theatrically explosive site-specific staging at Arlene’s Grocery,
Additional Notes:
Directed by Matt Torney, whose New York credits include
shows at HERE and 59E59, “Stop the Tempo” plays a
limited 4-week engagement.
In “Stop the Tempo” three alienated scenesters in their
20’s express their disillusion with fitting in to the new
Bucharest, which has changed utterly since the fall of
Communism. Now, neon signs pulse on every building,
shopping malls fill every suburb, dance music pumps from
every stereo, the TVs are turned up loud, and everyone is
pushed to spend spend spend. Subsequent to its
Romanian premiere, other memorable productions across Europe
have tapped a growing malaise for global consumerism.
In New York, the Belfast-born Torney adapts the play’s
central currency to explore our own oscillating urges to
disconnect in an utterly connected world.

The East Village bar d.b.a. co-sponsors these Sunday cruises. Famous for its great selection of beer, single malts and slogan "drink good stuff", d.b.a. brings along some of their most popular lagers, ales and champagne. No BYO alcoholic beverages are permitted, and no hard alcohol is served while sailing.
Follow this link for photos and comments posted by guests following previous d.b.a. sailing trips.
The network Voyages TV filmed an afternoon sail aboard Ventura, and interviewed Captain Pat about what kind of charters are offered. There's some nice footage in this 2 minute video of the boat and the sights of New York harbor.

Ice T! Ventura has appeared in a variety of films, promotions and even reality shows. Click here to see Ice T and Coco sailing aboard the good ship last summer, as shown in the E Network show Ice T Loves Coco.

The Misanthrope
Wednesday, April 24, 2013 through Sunday, May 26, 2013

Additional Notes: A playwright uses his acerbic wit and scathing critiques to unleash his discontent on the world. Unsettled by his popular girlfriend’s continued flirtation with other men, he suggests running away and starting a new life free from the superficiality, hypocrisy, and immorality of modern society. Celebrated British playwright Martin Crimp ("Attempts on Her Life", "The Country") moves Molière’s social satire from 17th century France to 21st century London, sharpening the bite of one of the world’s most controversial and humorous playwrights.
This production is for those aged 13 and over.
To be presented by the same repertory cast as George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man
We are offering tickets to both of these repertory shows in our Chocolate and Champagne Repertory Package
